Hi Rod- I let my good friend wire the pickups in his R7 yesterday, as It will be at least 5 weeks until I have them in my Guitar.
This is what he had to say- Great open/balanced tone, more of a highend feel & tighter low end than the A2 - although with a touch less power. Amazing response to fast pick attack & pinch harmonics, they definitely have more " Air in Tone" that's for sure.They get down no doubt about it! Will be very interesting to get that Middle reverse wind pickup in the 57 Custom you intend buying, thats gonna be some smok'n tone..... I don't think I want to give these back!! Gregory.
Rod, Hey! I got a chance to spend a LOT of time today with the A3's. Neck: -Excellent Dynamics and even Tone with Volume Rolled Back -Slightly 'Darker' than I prefer; sounds a little Compressed, even when Clean Bridge: -Same comments as Neck Middle: -AWESOME!! -Great Chimey, Open Tone -Best "Middle' Tele Tone I've ever heard!
