O.K. Rod,
I'm completely sold! These Skatterbrane pickups are exactly what I hoped they would be. FINALLY PAF tone! Great touch response, dynamics and the all important overtones. With an over-driven tube amp they actually get clearer as the guitar's volume is turned down. No more muddy loss of tone as the volume decreases. Usable tone control. Part of that is the 50's style wiring and paper in oil caps, but the vast majority is the construction of your pickups.  The pickups were able to deliver big time.  Wednesday I'll be at band rehearsal and can turn up the Bassman. I can't wait to try them through my modded Marshall Plexi reissue head when it's back from the tech, and I need to run them through a Fender Blackface. To say I'm thrilled is an understatement. My Les Paul Historic finally sounds as good as it looks. I'll definitely recommend Skatterbranes to anyone looking for authentic PAF tone. You've got the touch. You've discovered the proper wind using materials that enhance the overall build while retaining authenticity in tone and design. Well Done!

Thanks again,
Eric

Got Yangbranes?

A good friend and his ES-333

And his Les Paul Classic

So I wired in the SKATTERBRANES plugged into a 1972 Orange OR 120 head with a custom cabinet with 4 Heritage Celestion G 65's,I have it biased & set up to run on Tube position 2 & 3 giving me 60 watts of output rather than the mind blowing 120 it also has the Master control knob on the back. So you dial off the gain get 1 the best clean tones around.

The 1st Thing I noticed in the NECK position is how the SKATTERBANES so natural, so pure touch sensitive, alive. The notes seem to jump out of the rig with just the right amount of punch, yet balanced & airy almost 3-D like, crystal with wonderful warm bell like chimes, I was stunned, back off the Tone & open up the Volume you get the elusive woman tone every love and wants. Vintage sound, warm, rich and sweet with outstanding clarity and harmonic detail. I switched to the mid position with volume even on both pickups tone at 8, Now I rarely use the Mid position ,infact I am a bridge guy, but with the SKATTERBRANES you will have a whole new perception of what tone is really about, in the mid position it had Greater articulation and better string balance with just the right level of authority to make itself heard, Switch to the Bridge My favorite of all with the Vol. wide open , wonderful bite ,harmonically rich overdrive, that vintage growl & roar we love & yet still lost no note definition with riffs solos & bends. Some say because they are non wax potted there could be issues with mirophonics at High Amp Gain levels, B ut I have found no issues at high levels, even with pedals,if you want Death Metal gain these are not for you, The SKATTERBRANES are suitable for most applications & playing styles.I myself play Blues, Garage rock/Blues classic 60 & 70's punk .I also tested SKATTERBRANES with a few boutique pedals Landgraff, Klon,Ethos, proanalog,KR Musical if anything they made the pedals sound better in everyway. I have since boxed up Stratocasters & Tele's & purchased 2 more Gibson les Paul???s I have also purchased 3 more sets Of SKATTERBRANES the A5'S with Nickel Covers, the Limited Edition RAW Nickel A2 Set with hand selected Alnico Magnets & I just received the Mar-t-v Nickel set with the Peter Green Reverse wind Mod for the neck position.. Some say they are expensive. But you get what you pay for, and you should never put a price on the best tone!!

Somebody sign this kid already!

Rod,
just got your pups today..they are in R9..Amazed at the P.A.F. Humbuckers Now, the BKP I had in it before were wound to a spec from a real PAF and many people have said how good they sound, they have lot of middle and quite a mellow type tone.

So I put yours in and it makes my old pups sound like mud!!! Seriously Its like I have had cotton wool pulled out of my ears!!! the TONE of the SKATTERBRANE just smokes the Bare Knuckles.. Your pups just sound so crisp, clear, rich, perfectly balanced and perfect.. you got the skills when it comes to tone Happy about the custom pickups

I can't wait to do youtube vid and I'm gonna try and get you lots of business becasue thease really are the best pups I have tried and I have been through lots of makes new and old.

Cheers Rod

Has anybody here seen my old friend Martin?

Why is Monday so damned stormy?

hey rod,

sorry to be so long in answering.I don't check this site as much.anyway the A5s rock!they are smooth!but the 59 still sounds nothing like the 58.58 is warmer, more vintage sounding.59 is more 70'hard rock sounding.I am recommending the Skatterbranes to all my friends. The guitar tech at Guitar center Loved them. The neck pup on the 58 is righteous! The bridge on 59 is smokin.I am playing the 59 more ,trying to make a sound I like.Again, thanks for a great Product!!!

Gutpile, amp builder extraordinaire:

Hi, Rod.

I got it today and installation was completed. Thank you for your kindness.

SKATTERBRANE have same feel, Antiquity and TomHolmes and other clone hand wired style pickups.
It is Clear sound, Quick nuance, Good separation, etc....Of course, They exist in SKATTERBRANE too.

But I feel one more tone in SKATTERBRANE. It is so very woody tone.
It is a sound that have only in SKATTERBRANE. That is amazing sound !

Thank you for your great job. You are awesome guy.
I hope if you more become famous, Please keep the same quality.

Thank you !

Hiro

Jeff, journeyman, with A2s:

To whom it may concern:
I recently replaced Gibson's Burst Bucker 1 and 2 PAF pickups in my 2002 1959 Historic Les Paul guitar with Rod Kinkade's (Skatterbrane) PAF pickups.  Not only are they "big and bold," but they do not squelch upper mid frequencies like the factory Gibson pickups do.  They actually provide a "Fender-ish" Clanging Tone similar to the original PAF's that is big and articulate while simultaneously pumping out that old PAF middle bump that so many new PAF knock-offs miss.  All the PAF copies I have used so far (including Gibson's Classic 57's) miss the mark by employing a wonderful midrange, but lacking the the upper mids especially, which Rod Kinkade has obviously brought forward in his pickups.   I am a seasoned guitarist using mostly Telecasters, Stratocasters, Les Pauls, 335's, and 175's and I have never had a Gibson guitar which gave me enough of the frequency spectrum to be satisfied with, short of playing friend's vintage guitars from the 50's.  These Skatterbrane pickups sound closer to the original pickups than any combination I have ever played ....and I have been playing since 1969.   Trust me here....you can'y go wrong with Rod's Skatterbranes PAF pickups.
Thank you, Lee
